Walk in The Woods
Walk in The Woods.
This picture was taken from a image found in a magazine about the New Forest.
Soft pastel on Coloured paper. Time taken about one evening whilst watching the television and trying to keep the kids entertained.
I went straight into this subject with the soft pastel, no smaller sketches or scaling ups. I enjoyed doing this picture, it reminded me of the many walks that I have taken in the New Forest.

Stanpit Marsh
This picture was taken from a digital photo that I found when searching on google images, I came to a blog which had a very nice image of a wooden pathway over a wet marsh located in Christchurch, Dorset. The marsh is a nature reserve and is popular with bird watchers, it also has some ponies grazing on the marsh land.
I first started to sketch out the drawing in pencil but I was having trouble getting my scale right so I decided to take a short cut as I was limited to time today.
As there was a limited amount of time to make my picture I decided to take the digital image and edit it in a corel photo editing program. First I reduced the image to greyscale, I then increased the contrast to max and increased the brightness so the image became a faded image in grey and white. I now printed off the image on my desktop printed in as light a shade as possible in greyscale not colour to save as much as possible on the printing ink.
Next I placed the print onto my drawing paper and traced over the print with a 2B pencil. An image shadow will be left on the drawing paper underneath which allowed me to copy the shadow and let me get on with colouring in the picture.
